- The Night of the Iguana is one of the most famous plays written by Tennessee Williams. T. Williams has won two Pulitzer Prizes and three New York Critic's Circle Awards including on for The Night of the Iguana. The Night of the Iguana is about human loneliness and man's yearning need for love. It has been hailed by critics as one of the greatest plays of America's most important playwright.

Film Versions and Other Productions
A film was produced shortly after the play was written. It was filmed in 1964 and was directed by well-known film director John Huston. The film won the Academy Award for the Best Costume Design in addition to Ms. Hall's nomination for Cinematography and for Art Direction. The film removed the tourist Characters from the original stage version. The character Jake Latta is also eliminated and Shannon is fired through a comical telephone all.
The 1976 Broadway revival at the Circle Square Theatre was directed by Joseph Hardy. The Circle in the Square Theatre also staged a 1988 show.
There was a 2000 Serbo-Croatian film version that was directed by Janusz Kica.
